Few people know that an unprecedented international humanitarian effort took place during WWI. As early as 1914, thousands of Belgian and American volunteers pulled together under the leadership of future President Hoover and saved millions from starvation. "Glory and Gratitude" will reveal a glimpse of the lives of children, women and civilians during WWI: their daily struggles, their remarkable solidarity, their gratitude towards the United States, their hopes for peace. The exhibit includes handwritten letters of gratitude addressed by Belgian schoolchildren to the US Consul General in 1915.
