The SC Philharmonic saddles up and heads to the Wild West for the opening of its 59th Season. THE ROSE OF SENORA is a violin concerto in five scenes. Created by film composer George W. Clinton (Mortal Kombat, Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me) for violinist Holly Mulcahy, this work invites the audience to take narrative prompts for each movement which appear on a screen (think silent movies) and imagine the story of outlaws Rose and Jed in the Senora desert. Both Clinton and Mulcahy will be coming to Columbia for this event, and concert-goers can meet these artists during our special western-themed pre-concert event. In addition to the SC premiere of this thrilling contemporary work, audiences will also enjoy western-inspired works from John Williams, Wang Jie and Ferde Grofé.
